Improving Wheelset Stability of Railway Vehicles by Using an H?/LPV Active Wheelset System

The complexity of railway vehicle structures has been part an evolutionary process for almost two hundred years. Challenges such as increased weight, maintenance, higher costs and energy consumption have become common. vision future vehicles is to reduce complexity, hence enable simpler maintenance cost, course various research challenges arise from this. In fact, a number papers in the engineering literature presented practical ways control steering improve performance. model wheelset highly nonlinear, mainly due nature structure related wheel-rail contact forces involved during operation. this paper, simplest design terms retrofitting, actuated solid-axle considered, we investigate actively controlled wheelsets Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) aspect. We use grid-based LPV approach synthesize H? / controller, which self-scheduled by forward velocity, well longitudinal lateral creep coefficients. aim controller displacement yaw angle wheelset. Simulation results show that proposed ensures achievement above targets considered frequency domain up 100 rad/s.
